Axopar boats, explained by a captain

The twin-stepped-hull Finns changed what a day boat can do: 40+ knots, outboard simplicity, and real offshore manners. Here is why they work so well in Southern California, and the one for sale right now.

Why Axopar

The smartest day boat on the West Coast

Axopar builds in Finland around one big idea: a sharp entry, a twin-stepped planing hull, and modern outboards. The result is a boat that runs in the mid-40-knot range, stays flat and dry in a chop that would beat up a conventional runabout, and burns a fraction of the fuel of an inboard sportboat at the same speed.

In San Diego that translates directly: Catalina in well under two hours, Ensenada for lunch, the Coronados whenever the fish are biting. Outboard power means no shaft, no strut, no engine room, service is an outboard tech at the dock, not a yard period. It is why Axopars have become the default chase boat and superyacht tender in fleets worldwide, and the default second boat for owners who do not want a second maintenance program.

Paul ran boats professionally for 18 years, and pairs Axopars with larger motor yachts for exactly this reason: the big boat makes the passage, the Axopar does the daily running.
